Almost all of the land is open to backcountry camping, hiking, biking, fishing, and horseback riding. There are over 150 miles of horse trails in the park. Visitors can bring their own horse, or have a guided trail ride during the moths of May through October.

  hiking in Shenandoah   The Park features over 500 miles of hiking trails, which includes 101 miles of Appalachian Trail. Some short trails lead to a waterfall, or other view point, while longer trails lead to the deep forest and wilderness.
